How much smaller will my video get?
It depends on how the video was recorded. Phone videos are saved at a very high bitrate so they look good while you film, which means they usually shrink a lot: a one-minute 1080p clip from a phone often goes from around 100–150 MB down to 20–40 MB with the Balanced setting, with little visible difference on a phone screen.
Videos that were already compressed by an app, like downloads from social media or screen recordings from some tools, have less room to shrink. If Kliprio can't make a file smaller without making it look worse, it tells you instead of giving you a bigger file.

Why compress in the browser?
Most online compressors upload your video to their servers first. That takes time on a slow connection, puts your private videos on someone else's computer, and usually comes with size limits or watermarks. Kliprio uses the video encoder that's already built into your browser, the same technology video calls use, so the work happens on your device. It's faster for large files and nothing leaves your computer or phone.
Tips for the best result
- If you need to hit a specific limit, use Exact size. Kliprio aims slightly under the number so the file is accepted.
- Long videos can't fit into very small sizes and still look good. Trim the part you need first with the video trimmer.
- Turning off the sound saves a little space, which helps with very tight limits.
Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Kliprio runs entirely in your browser using your device's built-in video encoder. Your file is never sent to a server, so it stays private and nothing is stored on our side.
Will compressing reduce the quality?
A little, but usually not in a way you can see on a phone or laptop screen with the Balanced or Best quality settings. Compression removes detail your eyes don't notice much. Very strong compression, or squeezing a long video into a tiny size, will look softer.
What format is the compressed video?
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, the format that plays on every phone, computer, TV and social network.
Is there a file size limit?
Kliprio has no fixed limit. The practical limit is your device's memory: computers handle files of several gigabytes, while phones do best with videos under about 1 GB. If a very large file fails on your phone, try it on a computer.
Which formats can I use?
MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WebM and MPEG-TS videos, with the video codecs your browser can decode (H.264 everywhere; HEVC, VP9 and AV1 on most modern devices). AVI and WMV files are not supported yet.
