How it works
- Drop the clip you want to share on Discord.
- Choose your upload limit. 10 MB works for every account.
- Compress, download, and drag the file into Discord.
What's the Discord file size limit?
Discord's upload limit depends on your account and the server. Free accounts have had a 10 MB limit for a long time, and Discord has been testing higher limits for some free accounts during 2026, so you may see 20 or 25 MB. Servers with a level 2 boost allow 50 MB, and Nitro subscribers can upload much larger files. If you're not sure which one applies to you, choose 10 MB: it's accepted everywhere.
When a file is too big, Discord shows an error and refuses the upload. Kliprio calculates the exact bitrate your clip needs to land just under the limit, so it goes through the first time.
How long can a 10 MB video be?
At 10 MB, the size is shared across the whole clip, so shorter clips look better:
| Clip length | What to expect at 10 MB |
|---|---|
| Up to 30 seconds | Sharp 720p or 1080p, great for game clips and memes |
| 30–60 seconds | Clean 540p–720p |
| 1–3 minutes | Watchable 360p–480p |
| Over 3 minutes | Too blurry; trim the best part first |
Kliprio lowers the resolution automatically when a clip is long, because a smaller, clean picture looks better than a large, blocky one. For long recordings, cut out the moment you want with the video trimmer and then compress it.
Game clips and screen recordings
Clips from OBS, ShadowPlay, the Xbox Game Bar or your phone's screen recorder are often huge because they're recorded at high bitrates. They compress very well. A 30-second 1080p game clip of 60–80 MB usually fits under 10 MB and still looks good in Discord's player.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Discord say my file is too large?
Your video is bigger than the upload limit for your account or server. Compress it here with the 10 MB preset, which is accepted for every account.
Will the video play inside Discord?
Yes. Kliprio creates an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, which Discord plays inline on desktop, web and mobile.
Does Kliprio keep 60 fps?
When there's enough room in the file size, yes. For long clips at 10 MB, Kliprio may lower the frame rate to 30 fps so each frame stays sharp.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Kliprio runs entirely in your browser using your device's built-in video encoder. Your file is never sent to a server, so it stays private and nothing is stored on our side.
Is Kliprio really free?
Yes. Kliprio is free to use and is supported by ads shown on the page, never inside the tool or on the download button. There's no watermark and no account.
